What this is

New Day Digital (NDD) streams films from New Day, a film maker-owned distribution cooperative founded in 1971.   Here you can find both On Demand streams and customized streaming solutions.  What makes us different from any other streaming venture is that we are  run by and for the film makers who created the films.

Our members are committed to bringing their films to an ever-expanding audience.  As the digital transformation unfolds, we're here to learn about your needs and to respond to them with a flexible range of digital delivery options.

Films

NDD offers 86 social issue documentaries from 60 acclaimed independent film makers.   This is not the entire New Day Films collection -- most of our films are still available only on DVD or VHS. Please go to www.newday.com to see our entire collection.

Formats

NDD films are offered as high-quality Flash streams that can be played on any computer with the Flash browser plug in (free download ), which is already installed on most computers.  On Demand films stream at 300kbps or 400kbps.  Institutional streams are at 700kbps or 1500kbps.  For comparison, YouTube films stream at either 300kbps or 900kbps.

License Terms

On Demand streams are available for 90 days.  Institutional licenses vary -- ranging from a semester to five years.  Please note that our On Demand streaming license prohibits projecting the film in class or to groups.  On Demand streams are intended for the individual license holder.

Prices

On Demand streams cost $4.99 for a 90-day license. With the discount for DVD title owners described below, the cost is $2.99.   For institutional streaming price, go to Custom Digital .

Discounts

For On Demand streaming, anyone affiliated with an institution that has already bought an NDD title on DVD or tape can take advantage of the reduced streaming price for the same title. To get the discount, you enter a discount code when you sign up to receive the film.  Discount codes for the films have been sent to librarians and professors at institutions with NDD titles in their catalogs. If you’re from an institution that owns the title and you don’t have a discount code, please contact us.

For institutional streaming discounts, see Custom Digital.
