Over the course of a controversial ten year revolution in Nepal, 40% of the guerilla army fighting against the government were women. WOMAN REBEL follows the story of one such woman (codename "Silu") on her incredible journey, from the jungles, all the way through to the halls of Parliament. It's a powerful, unconventional topic featuring women as agents of change, not victims of circumstance.
"...offers a mature and fascinating look at Nepal’s extraordinary social upheaval, chronicling the unlikely rise of a Nepalese woman from rural poverty to leadership. Silu is an eloquent and empowering voice...this title is highly recommended." 3 1/2 stars

The provocative nature of the film is its subject matter. It personalizes the violence of this bloody conflict through the experiences of one woman. It should be of interest to a variety of college courses as well as the general public. Linda Kelly Alkana Educational Media Reviews Online (EMRO)
Woman Rebel offers a tender glimpse into the experiences of a courageous young warrior propelled into battle by her deep yearning for human rights. This film effortlessly transitions between the personal testimonies of Silu and short explanations of the overarching events and issues that affected the entire nation.
